Former Google engineer has to pay $179 million to Google after court rules he was stealing Google's employees

Anthony Levandowski is learning the hard way that he can’t steal people from the company he use to work at just so he can start up his own competing company.

An arbitration court in San Francisco told Anthony Levandowski and his cohort, Lior Ron, that they have to pay Google $179 million for stealing Google’s employees in order to build up their self-driving truck business which they sold to Uber for over $600 million.

Y’all see that last part, there, the “over $600 million” part. I’m sure y’all are saying to y’all selves, “They can take that $600 they got and pay Google they’re money.”

Welp, they can’t. Levandowski claims he only has about $50 million to $100 million to his name, which is too low for him to even put something on it. Ron, I’m sure, is just as broke and will more than likely be following Levandowski’s lead in following for bankruptcy.

And to top it off, the Feds have hit Levandowski with 33 counts of stealing and trying to steal Google’s trade secrets, some of which he pioneered.

Hm, if that ain’t about a blimp. He’s being charged with stealing some of the stuff that he pioneered. But, that’s how it is. Whenever you use your brains to create a product for folks, you are turning over your rights to the product that your brains created. And it’s for that reason that Levandowski probably thinks he hasn’t done anything wrong.

There Levandowski was the MVP of Google engineering, pioneering self-driving cars. He was the All-Star. Heck, he was even friends with the former CEO and founder of Google, Larry Page. But that friendship went south after Levandowski took Google’s peoples with him to he and Ron’s new company.

Now, I don’t know why in good God’s name that Uber would fork out $600+ million for a self-driving truck company. Anybody with a lick of sense knows that something as big as a truck ain’t got no business having technology in it that will enable it to drive itself.

Here, you got this technology in these big behind trucks, telling the trucks when to go, when to stop, when to slow up, when to turn, when to go back, or when to go forward.

That technology that Levandowski pioneered will be just as faulty as the technology he pioneered for self-driving cars which, by the way, have gone rogue, running down folks and stuff. Just stop and imagine, six wheel Big Daddy Diesel running over folks. It won’t be a pretty sight. But then again, the Uber folks are not known for making good decisions. That’s why they got all of those sexual harassment lawsuits.

I digress. As I was saying, “Levandowski and Ron are up a shit creek without a hazmat suit because they didn’t read the fine print when they were signing their John Hancocks on those offer letters.” Now, they got the Feds, Google, and even Uber after them.

The folks over at Uber said they’re looking at ways to get rid of that indemnification they provided to Levandowski, now that all of this alleged “stealing” of some of his own stuff from Google has come out.
